ABOUT

I am an editor and writer in New York City, where I work as a senior editor at Yale University Press and am an associate faculty member at the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research and a contributing editor at Lux magazine. I write widely on culture, feminism, politics, history, and the more-than-human world, and am the editor of The Verso Book of Feminism. I am a co-host for the Rogue Loon reading series, held every other month at Black Spring Books in Brooklyn, which showcases new and in-process work from writers and artists; I collaborate with composer and performer Sophia Brous on “Set Pieces”, an ongoing project creating song cycles to modernist poetry, most recently at Lincoln Center; and I also edit the punk rococo zine of writing by animals for animals, Vole Prochaine.

Previously, I was an editor at Verso Books, a visiting assistant professor of History at Indiana University, an assistant editor at the Journal of American History, an associate editor of the Pacific Northwest Labor and Civil Rights Projects, and worked for over a decade with Voices of a People's History extending Howard Zinn's historical vision.

I am a Whitney Humanities Fellow for the 2024–2025 academic year at Yale University, and I have held visiting scholar positions at Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race and New York University’s Department of Social and Cultural Analysis. In 2020–2021, I was granted a Fulbright Fellowship to South Korea to visit with the ghosts of America’s wars in East Asia.
